Opening the Book
Most projects begin with a phone call. The project, deadline, and potential editing services are discussed. Next, I review a short sample of the writing and prepare a proposal noting services to be rendered, terms, and pricing. We discuss the proposal and make changes (if necessary) until a final agreement is reached.
Payment Information
For short-term projects (8 hours or less), fees are paid prior to the date the project begins.
For long-term projects (9+ hours), 50% of the estimated bill is paid before project begins.
Depending on the project, clients may make monthly payments or pay the final balance at project completion.
Ongoing projects: Payments may be made monthly, quarterly or as arranged on the writing proposal.
Fee Structure
Short-term editing projects and coaching services may be billed at an hourly rate. Long-term projects that require research or an extended review of revisions may be charged at a lower rate.
Details will be noted on the writing proposal.

From Editor to Writing Coach
As an editor I read your manuscript carefully. I study elements like style, form, voice, characters, figurative language and any specific areas of your interest. I note areas which work well, and areas that may require further revision. My feedback is always positive!
I specialize in editing short stories, creative non-fiction essays, and novels (on a chapter-by-chapter basis).
As a writing coach, I offer writing support in weekly, bi-weekly or monthly sessions. Coaching topics are always catered to your needs. Some examples include: tips for moving through big projects, networking ideas, writing resources and tools, suggestions for sticking with a writing schedule, or coaching for performing your work before an audience.
Most clients appreciate a combination of coaching and editing services.
Formatting
Text should be double-spaced in a 12-point standard font (approximately 250 words per page) and formatted in Microsoft Word. Documents may be sent as email attachments or via US mail. Your name, title of piece(s) and page numbers should be noted on all documents.
Content Preferences
I enjoy working with writing that enhances my energy. Consequently, I prefer not to work with excessively negative or violent material.
In general, I don't review writing that is academic, existential or political in nature.
